Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

With the new Spider-Man movie right around the corner, I knew I wanted to revisit this theme before the movie hits the theaters.  I had been thinking about it for a while but a random trip to Foot Locker is what really set things off.

One day, I walked by a Foot Locker location and decided to stop in and browse.  I was just curious to see what they had in stock and thought maybe I would see a shoe I may consider grabbing for a future project.  Then I came across these, the Triple Red Air Force 1 lows and I immediately thought, "These would be perfect for a Spider-Man theme!" although at the time, I had no idea what the actual design would look like or what direction I would go with it.  I just knew I had to do that theme on this shoe.

I grabbed these on the spot and came up with a concept later that week.  I knew I wanted something inspired by Tom Holland's MCU version of the character, but it had to be something that wasn't one of the Tony Stark spider suits.  I saw a few photos of the new suit from the upcoming film but was also very much into the suit we see him wear at the very end of No Way Home, which has the metallic blue.

Originally, I was going to go for a darker blue but ended up going with some shades of blue that were similar to the metallic from the end of NWH.  And it definitely had to have that updated spider logo as well.

So here is the finished product:

For the webbing pattern, I went with a more abstract look in dark red as opposed to the more aligned looking black webbing from the costume.  part of the reason being I didn't want the black webbing to clash with the spider logo on the side rear tabs.

Looking back, if I could change any detail, I probably would have gone slightly darker on the blue in certain areas because at times, it does remind me more of a Ben Reilly Scarlet Spider concept.  But overall, I'm pretty happy with how these came out.

These will be available in the shop section next week but will be a limited-edition release (more info will be available soon).
