Frank Costanza Air Force 1 low

Frank Costanza Air Force 1 low

Continuing with my Seinfeld theme customs, next up is a pair themed after George Costanza's dad, the ever-popular Frank Costanza, who was played by Jerry Stiller.  As I mentioned in my previous blog featuring the "Hello, Newman" custom Air Force 1s, Seinfeld is my all-time favorite sitcom.

If you're a fan of the show, you know Frank as the loud, opinionated, and unhinged dad of George Costanza and arguably the most popular recurring character on the show.  I thought it would be fun to do a pair of shoes based around him.

First, I wanted to figure out what colors I would use and what the base design would be.  I got the idea to base it around Frank mentioning his "cabana wear" in the episode "The Raincoats".  Cabana wear, aka "cruise wear" referring to the clothes he would wear going on vacation/on a cruise, which would be stuff like Hawaiian shirts and summer wear.

I also got some inspiration from this old photo of a young Jerry Stiller that I came across on Google looking pretty snazzy in what could pass as a cabana/cruise shirt:

I also wanted to add references from classic Frank moments like the "Man in a cape" scene:

The classic "Serenity Now" episode:

The "You want a piece of me?" scene from the episode "The Little Kicks":

And probably his most famous moment, the Festivus storyline from the episode "The Strike":

The base shoe for the customs: the classic Nike Air Force 1 low:

And here is the finished product:

"Serenity now!"

"You want a piece of me?"

Frank and the man in the cape (played by Larry David, the creator of the show)

I also included the Festivus pole:

And of course, Frank in all his glory:

And some more photos below:
